On a farm, a site, a campsite, a boat or a big house, two handsets talk directly to each other. This Alecto set is a twin pack, quoted at up to 6km range, operating on the PMR446 band - which is licence-free in Ireland, so there is nothing to register and nothing to pay. Bear in mind that the headline range is the open-ground, line-of-sight figure every manufacturer quotes; buildings, hills, trees and overhead power lines all cut it down, so expect less in a town and more across open country.

Licence free on PMR446
PMR446 is the licence-free band across Ireland and the EU.
