The point of an emergency radio is that it still works when nothing else does. This one has three independent ways to charge: a built-in solar panel, a hand crank that generates power from nothing at all, and USB-C for topping it up at home before you need it. Inside is a 2000mAh rechargeable battery that also works as a power bank, so it will put charge back into a phone at 500mA when the mains is down. It picks up FM, AM and shortwave, so it reaches broadcasts a DAB set cannot, and there is an LED torch built in. At 14.8cm across it fits in a drawer, a car or a rucksack.
Hand crank dynamo
Wind the handle and it generates its own power. No batteries to find, no charge to run out of - the feature that makes it an emergency radio rather than just a radio.
