JBL Xtreme 5 Portable Bluetooth Speaker with 130W Output, IP68, Auracast and Powerbank - Squad | JBLXTREME5SQUAD

Product Description

130 watts, IP68 and a battery that charges your phone as well as the speaker

The Xtreme is the big one in JBL's portable range, and the 5 is built around a three-driver array - one racetrack woofer and two separate tweeters - rather than the single full-range driver smaller speakers make do with. Plugged in it delivers 130W RMS; on battery it runs at 90W, which is still far more than a party needs outdoors. The 68Wh battery gives around 24 hours and doubles as a powerbank, and it is user-replaceable, which is unusual and is the difference between a speaker that lasts five years and one that becomes landfill when the cell dies. IP68 means dust-tight and submersible, Auracast links it to other compatible JBL speakers, and Bluetooth 6.0 carries SBC, AAC and LC3.

One woofer and two tweeters
A 3.9 x 5.7 inch racetrack woofer with two separate 0.75 inch tweeters, so the treble is handled by dedicated drivers instead of being asked of the bass driver.

130W on mains, 90W on battery
130W RMS with the speaker plugged in and 90W on battery. Worth knowing before an outdoor event - if there is a socket, use it.

Up to 24 hours, 28 with Playtime Boost
A 68Wh (9,444mAh) battery gives around 24 hours, extended to about 28 with Playtime Boost, and charges in 3.5 hours.

Replaceable battery
The battery is designed to be replaced rather than sealed in. On a speaker at this price that is what decides whether it is still working in five years.

Powerbank output
Charges a phone from the speaker's own battery, which on a day out matters more than the last few decibels.

IP68 dust and water protection
Dust-tight and rated for submersion - rain, sand and a drop in the pool are all survivable.

Auracast
Link it to other compatible JBL speakers, or pair two Xtreme 5 units as a stereo pair.

Bluetooth 6.0 with LC3
Bluetooth 6.0 carrying SBC, AAC and LC3 - LC3 gives better quality at lower bitrates than the old SBC codec.

40Hz to 20kHz
Reaches down to 40Hz, which is low enough to give kick drum and bass lines actual weight.
