An extender creates a second network you have to switch to by hand, and drops you between the two. A mesh does not: three nodes present one network name and one password, and your phone or laptop hands over between them as you move through the house without you noticing. This Cudy system covers up to 4,500 square feet with its three units, running AC1200 dual-band Wi-Fi - 867Mbps on 5GHz for streaming and 300Mbps on 2.4GHz for range and for the smart devices that only speak 2.4. Each node has two gigabit Ethernet ports, so a TV, a console or a desktop can plug straight in wherever a node sits.

True mesh, not an extender
One network name across all three nodes, with devices handing over automatically as you move. An extender makes a second network and leaves you to switch manually.

Up to 4,500 sq ft with three nodes
Cudy rate one unit at 1,600 sq ft and three at 4,500. Real coverage depends on walls and layout, but three nodes is enough for most houses including the far end of the garden.

AC1200 dual band
867Mbps on 5GHz for streaming and video calls, 300Mbps on 2.4GHz for range and for smart home devices that cannot use 5GHz.

Two gigabit Ethernet ports per node
Every node has two wired ports, so a TV, console or desktop can plug in wherever there is a node - a detail many mesh systems skimp on.
