A washer dryer earns its place in a small utility room or a kitchen because it does two jobs in one footprint. This PowerPoint washes 10kg - a genuinely large family load, duvets and towels included - and dries 6kg of it without you transferring anything. The wash cycle carries an A energy rating, the top band on the current scale, and spins at 1400rpm so less water is left to dry in the first place. The Eco 40-60 programme is the one the energy label is measured on and the one to use for everyday mixed loads; it uses 47 litres per wash. Spin noise is 76dB, noise class B.

Ten kilos is a full family load. Six kilos of that can be dried in the same drum, so a wash-and-dry cycle covers most of what a household actually puts through in one go.
A rated wash
The wash cycle sits in the A band, the top of the current EU scale. Note the combined wash-and-dry cycle is rated E - that is normal for the format, because drying with a condenser uses far more energy than washing.
1400rpm spin
A fast spin pulls more water out before the drying phase starts, which shortens the dry and cuts the energy it uses.
Eco 40-60 programme
